Since there are so many different tans of leather out there, we are including this page on our site as a sort of a glossary of the leathers that we use, so that you can see each and its qualities!

Hermann Oak
A leather that is tanned in St. Louis. Vegetable-tanned cowhide.

Horween
The texture of this particular leather is superb – sturdy, yet soft and almost buttery to the touch. The fact that it’s oil-tanned leather means that it gives greater water resistance…and that’s happy. Tanned in Chicago.

American Bison (Buffalo)
This traditional material has an amazing feel to it and we have worked with it in several different finishes.

Oil-Tan
This is a thin, rustic leather that has a soft feel to it.
